« Thread Started on Dec 23, 2004, 6:44pm »

Hi, I have just been married for over a year, and discovered 2 months into our marriage of my husbands drug addiction. I was shocked, and many times weve talked thru and Ive tried to be patient, and weve prayed, but recently I found out he is still taking drugs and has not been honest with me.
its been really difficult for me, where i have contemplated leaving him..
any advise?
thanks

Dear Sister Teporah,

Thanks for contacting CWFJ Ministries, Inc. and for entrusting us to advise you regarding this very difficult season in your life.

Please go back to the day you first laid eyes on your husband. Think about what it was in his character that drew you to him. Now go to the day of your wedding and recapture your joy. Most important, go to your wedding vows...specifically, "for better for worse".

We live now in a microwave society were everyone wants everything quick and in a hurry. Rarely do children experience food cooked from scratch and in an oven because their parents microwave everything. Tea kettles are becoming a thing of the past because people are too impatient to warm up water. Instead that goes in the microwave also.

It is against that impatient backdrop that we have 50% of the marriages in this country falling apart (over 50% actually). Once the fairy tale ends and the "prince on a white horse" turns out to be a regular human being on a horse, the woman often throws in the towel and hits the highway---in a car, not a horse!

So you are in a "for better, for worse" time of your life. You have some decisions to make. Are you going to hang in there as your husband's help meet and pray with him and fight for him or are you going to fold and run? This is a spiritual battle. the devil's job is to destroy your marriage.

Prayer and fasting is powerful. Have you done that? I'm talking about intense, laying prostrate before the Lord and fasting on water until you hear from God. Drugs have at their root satan. satan rules the drug world and when a man or woman ingests drugs, that person is literally ingesting demons. So yes, this is a battle you are in. Are you going to walk away from your husband and leave him to fight this battle alone or are you going to be his help meet and stand in the gap for him until he gets his mind back?

The decision is yours. Consult Jesus before making your next move. And as always, we here at CWFJ Ministries, Inc. wish you peace this holiday season as you worship the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
