Another topic that I get asked about often is maturbation. Singles want to know if they can masturbate to satisfy their physical needs until marriage. Okay, what do you think?

You surely have all the controversy topics up ;D
I have not seen any scriptures directly address this. Has anyone else?

GENESIS 6:5 - "And God saw the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts of heart was only evil continually."
When a person engages in masturbation, that person is imagining themselves with someone and singles obviously are not imagining themselves with their husband or wife. Married men are probably imagining themselves with a porno star, etc.
Because of the imaginations that go with it, I believe it counts as sinful.

Every action is a result of a thought. Before we masturbate we have thought about it, the feeling and sometimes we have even thought of a person we would like to be with.. that's called VAIN IMAGINATION. Paul teaches us to CAST DOWN EVERY VAIN IMAGINATION THAT EXALTS ITSELF ABOVE GOD. Our thoughts should be set on things above, heavenly things and satisfying ourselves sexually does not fall under pure holy thoughts. As singles we need to guard our thoughts and the thought of having sex let's us know that the "spirit of lust" is in operation. When you masturbate you NOT only entertain the thought but you have given into the lust of the flesh. In addition, you open yourself up to other "sexual perversions". WATCH the enemy, he's subtle with his attacks. Because of a lot of sexual abuse in my life, I was an avid masturbator for years and at the time I opened myself for other "sexual desires". I am NOW delivered and I pray as you read this, take authority over the thought and the thought won't become an "action". Read scriptures on what your hands should be used for. Clapping, laying hands and they shall be healed, etc..... While we are waiting to marry (including myself) let's make sure our thoughts and actions are pleasing to GOD. Peace and power from God...Evang Hines

I don't think it was in God's plan for us to stimulate/satisfy ourselves. Before it becomes an act, it was a thought first. Many people say that they don't have to think of someone to perform this act...I don't know because I am not in anyone's mind. Again, this is another thing that has to do with discipline - you must have control. Lust of any kind is sin! We must desire to remain pure and to "lift up holy hands" (pun intended). We find many reasons to fulfil the lusts of the flesh, when the bible specifically tell us to die daily!

Given a choice between fornicating and self-stimulating, it is healthier and safer to self-stimulate.

It is better to marry than to burn, according to scriptures (1 Cor 7:9). I would advise singles to actively start courting and eventually marrying so that these desire will be taken care of in a loving, natural way with a loving spouse.

Why do people excuse oral sex but speak against masturbation? What is the difference? If you are against one, be against both, that's how I feel. Masturbation is safer.
